ShiCro, or Shi Chronicles is a two part fan series of fifteen books total as well as some side stories. It's actually Toshi's journal up to the second part, so it's told in 1st person. The sidestories, however are told in 3rd person in order for the readers to see what the other characters are up to, since Toshi doesn't know what's going on with them. Though some of them are stand-alone stories and shouldn't effect the main storyline too much. There will be some cameos of some people you all may know from deviantart or some such place. To be honest, one of the main reasons I made this forum is so I could have a more reliable place to post this. Oh yes, this would be rated PG13 for gore, language, and uh...gore. It gets a little more intense when it nears the end. This series was inspired to me by Yoshi's Story, and the Paper Mario series. As a tribute to YS, the Shi family would be the young yoshies that embarked on the journey to save the Super Happy Tree...man, that just kills the seriousness going on when they mention its name throughout the series. XD
This would be book I. It introduces the main antagonist of the series, and the Shi family. The main conflict that Toshi is going through in this book is that he's trying to understand what it is to be a Guardian. He and his siblings are the sole soon to be Guardians of the world that the Mushroom Kingdom resides. The previous Guardians except for the Shis' parents (Which I will write a sub series about their adventures sometime after I finish this series. Maybe sooner, who knows? I'll probably be out of college by the time I finally finish with it all. XD) were killed in some way during a great war which is still going on while Toshi and the others are trying to find their friend who was imprisoned by the antagonist. They participate in the war sometime in the future. The rest you'll have to find out for yourself. I hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoy writing it. ^^
(I got it up quicker than planned...a note, ShiCro will be moved to it's own private Floor once the series is complete.)

Upon the journeys that I was dragged into, I traveled all over my world with my siblings, fought many battles, made and lost valuable friends, and learned many amazing abilities. That was a time filled with chaos and many wars across the planet. My Father and Mother were guardians of the planet but could not control the chaos and destruction that was thrust upon it. They had to fight a war much more complicated, one that had to keep the world- no, the entire universe from shattering to pieces. They left us in charge of the planet, though we had not known it until some time during our first adventure. It is a well known tale by most as it would seem. So I will summarize is as best I can.
The day we hatched, The Island was treacherous. So tormented it was that the other kin had been affected by a mysterious source and attacked us. We searched for our parents but could not find a single trace of them. We had traveled far, over clouds, through towers that seemed to touch the stars, dank caves, and dense jungles of Piranha Plant to find why The Island seemed so chaotic as well as finding our parents. Nay, only one of those destinations did we come across. We were led to a dark castle with some help from our parents' old friend. The White Shy Guy who's name was Dr. W, though I just called him White, taught us many things about our family and some information about ourselves, then sent us off to save the Island.
"Toshi! OY! Don't make so much noise, mate. Those ghosts may be blindfolded, but they can hear extremely well." Trenshi, my twin brother, had said pointing to the Blindfold Boo's odd ears.
"Sorry. Why couldn't we take the path with all the cogs and doohickeys? I hate all these ghosts..."
Trenshi sighed, "Because we were trusted to come this way. There are four paths and only eight of us, counting those Black and White Yoshi siblings we found." He threw an egg at one of the Boos but it fazed off. "Ah crikey, run for your life!" The Boo cackled and chased after us. We couldn't run very well but we managed to slip through another corridor that led up some stairs. We took it while leaving the Boo confused and turning all around trying to hear the slightest sound of a footstep.
I sighed in relief and sat down once we got to the top, "What a long climb, I wonder how the others are doing?" I asked while catching my breath.
"Yeah, I'm worried too," Trenshi replied as I hopped up. I thought a moment, then asked a bit of a random question to Tren.
"Hey, bro? How is it that we are twins but we are differently colored. I'm light blue, while you're yellow. You have that cool accent too."
He shrugged, "Even though two siblings are twins, doesn't mean that they have to be precisely the same in every way, mate. Besides, I'm smart and you're, well..."
I tilted my head and smiled smugly thinking I figured it out, "Better looking?"
Trenshi sighed, "We look exactly the same, Tosh'..."
I raised a brow, "But I thought you said..." Trenshi cut me off as he ran down another hallway, obviously losing patience with me. "H-hey, wait bro!" I frantically chased after him and started screaming when a mob of Boos started coming after us.
After a few hours of running we finally got rid of the boos and arrived at the final floor. There, my little sister, Chishi was waiting with the black yoshi along with Yoshi and Boshi. "Hey, you! You didn't try anything on my sister did you?" The black yoshi snorted and turned his back on me. I noticed he had an eye for Chi, and I couldn't help but interfere.
"Toshi! You arrogant...UGH!" She snorted, stamping her feet. Donshi and the white yoshi came up the last staircase.
She looked at each of us, "What's going on?" I flushed hearing her voice, and started to daydream about the time we met, without realizing it. ( ) ( ) ( ) "Man...this tower goes on forever!" I heard a thumping behind me and jumped, and whisked around. I saw a white spotted egg and walked up to it.
"H-hello?" I knocked on the egg and it knocked in unison.
"Woah. Is anyone in there?" I heard a faint squeaking and reared back a bit.
"Huh, your a sight." I looked around the tower scratching my head, "I didn't know yoshies lived around here...if you're all alone, you can come with me if you want!"
The egg seemed to jump for joy after I finished that sentence. "Well then it's settled! My name is Toshi by the way!" I smiled and walked a few steps, watching the egg behind me. It seemed to be able to follow so I went ahead through the tower.
"I hate getting separated from the others. Well, at least I'm not alone." The egg giggled, still following behind me. "Oh, I didn't know you could hear me!" I came across a rather large door. "Hmm...that's odd." I shrugged it off and went through.
"KAAHGAAAKGAAKGAAH! What have we hear, a hatchling and a newborn it seems? Well that's just...delicious."
I yelped, looking around, "W-who said that!?"
A ghost-like monster appeared and cackled again, "I am he who is called....Inviso. How DARE you intrude on my tower and take my prized egg! Why, I think I may just have to kill you for that! KAAAAHGAAAHAAAK!"
He disappeared once again, "Oh great. How am I supposed to fight something I can't see!?" I heard a soft squeak. I turned around and saw the egg behind me shivering with fright. I smiled and pet the egg, "It's all right. I won't let him get you. I promise." I turned back around and scanned the grounds for Inviso. I saw a twinkling in the air, but before I could react I was bombarded by gusts of powerful wind. So powerful that it nearly sliced my skin open. "Augn...what the...what are you?" The spirit cackled, sweeping me off my feet. "GAH!! This isn't fair!!" I saw an evil yet jolly looking, grin appear.
"I'm going to rip the skin off your flesh, just for fun. But that's just the beginning. I'm going to eat you slowly, savoring the taste starting from your tail! I haven't had anything like you to eat for decades!" I felt myself being raised into the air and screamed. I was being lowered to his mouth, kicking but with little effort.
"Can't we talk this over? I have some delicious fruit...will that- hey not so fast!" He cackled once again but was cut short as a stream of light hit him, which made his eerie cackle turn into a bloodcurdling scream. I was dropped to the ground rather hard.
"Now!! Hit it with everything you have!" I looked over, seeing in place of the egg was a white yoshi. After a few seconds of shock and awe, I looked back at the spirit, now visible.
"Pay back time." I took one of my four eggs and pelted Inviso well between the eyes, while it was stunned I threw another, then a third. "For my final move..." I leaped through the air and headbutted Inviso with tremendous force. The last I heard of him was his fading scream, I looked back and in a flash of light, he exploded. "BOOYAH!! In your face!" I blinked for a minute and turned around. "Hey...wait a minute...how did you do that beam...thing?"
She gasped, "Oh...I wasn't supposed to let anyone see that...but, you needed help. Please, don't tell anyone, especially my brother."
I tilted my head, puzzled. "If it's that important. I won't tell anyone. I swear, especially since I don't even know who your brother is."
She sighed with relief and smiled, "Thank you. And thank you for saving me, my name is... Garden."
I smiled blushing a bit, then turned around quickly so she wouldn't see my face, "I-it was nothing. Really! I should be thanking you." I found an umbrella and rushed over to it. "Look! It's our way out!"
She looked at me funny, "What do you mean? Do you expect us to float down?"
I nodded, grinning widely. "That's exactly what I mean." I kicked it up and caught it in the air. "Cmon, we need to hurry so I can catch up with my brothers and sister...and that other black yoshi."
She seemed shocked, "B-black yoshi?"
I blinked, "Is something wrong?" She shook her head and walked over, "It's nothing. I'm sure he's my brother...Shadow." I nodded, understanding now. I looked down over the cliff of the tower then stood up, putting my hand over my mouth as if I were holding something.
"Attention all passengers, thank you for choosing Toshi Flights, I will be your pilot today, we will be taking off shortly." She giggled and I took her hand, "Hang on, and don't let go." She clung to me which made me flush. "Ahem...okay, one...two...three!" I jumped off the tower and we were floating safely down to the clouds where I found Trenshi, Yoshi, and Donshi waiting for me, shouting my name, "Toshi! Toshhh- ( ) ( ) ( ) "-Hhhi? Toshi! Snap out of it!" I blinked, shaking off the daydream as Trenshi was shaking me.
"Uh, w-what? Oh! Right, of course." I had been staring at Garden the whole time not realizing it and she had given me a strange look. I coughed hoarsely, "Right, now then, where are we again?" My brothers all shook their heads, sighing in disbelief except for Chishi who was bursting out laughing and Shadow who just stared at me, wide-eyed. Now I know what it felt like. I figured I'd give him a break since he was so calm when I did the same thing around Garden.
"A'ight...dat's enough foolin' around. It's time to get down and get dirty. Get ready guys, this is gonna get ugly."
"But, you don't have a clue what's going to happen next," I said.
"Shh, I'm tryin' ta look good in front of the babe, bro." He said gesturing to Garden. I felt a shiver of jealousy run through my spine and brushed roughly past Boshi.
"Alright, let's get this over with."
I could feel Boshi's mischievous grin on me, "Ooohohooooo! Someone gots da hots for da dame over there huh?" I whisked around, ready to sock him in the nose, only to be interrupted by Trenshi.
"That's enough! You two can fight over that girl later. We have to finish this." I stepped back, growling, extremely embarrassed.
"Yeah. Whatever." I turned around clenching my fists and opened the large door that led to the Koopa Prince.
Upon entering, we saw the Prince who had been nibbling on some of the fruit from our sacred tree and spitting it out in disgust. He noticed us, got to his feet, and started to lecture us about how stupid our kin are and all that. He mentioned something about a person named...Mario. "He must be someone my parents know," I thought to myself.
He kept going on about this person until Yoshi got irritated and threw an egg at him, "Are you gonna sit there blabbing your ugly jaw about some red guy in overalls, or are you gonna hand over our tree? Frankly, your just an annoying spoiled little brat that has the most annoying voice I've ever heard of in my point of view!"
I laughed aloud, "Hey, his voice is pretty annoying...kinda reminds me of that one gu-" Before I could finish the bratty koopa interrupted with a temper-tantrum. "Dat's enough! I don't even like your stuupid tree, it's fruit tastes bitter! And I don't like your stuuuupid kind. They're all...stuuuupid!"
He jumped on a green spirit and fled to the ceiling after which, he started bombarding us with Bob-ombs, which we simply caught and threw back at him. After about three hits, he fell to the ground as the spirits dispersed from the tower.
"Grr, I'm tired of you guys! I wanted to have fun watching you suffer on your stuuupid Island!" He jumped up and down throwing yet another temper-tantrum. "But you have to get in my way and ruin it all! That's why I hate your kind! I'm gonna make you into a bunch of burnt donkeys!"
I blinked, "What's a do-" I cut myself off with a scream and ducked as a surprisingly large fireball came flying towards me from Junior. "Yo! That nearly burned m-" I screamed again as a large number of fireballs came flying at us. I dodged to the side and watched as the others did their best to avoid them.
Boshi got up and screamed, "Man, I hate fire!! I'm gonna pound your ugly mug into the floor!" He charged at the Prince and tried to ground pound him, but the prince simply jumped out of the way and threw another fireball. Boshi deflected it with an eggshell and it was sent flying right towards Garden who was recovering from the last attack. I watched in terror as it neared her but was surprised as Donshi jumped in the way of it. She screamed as it made impact with Don's cheek, he fell to the ground, cringing. Everyone, even the Prince, paused, watching Donshi as he got up and snarled at Junior.
He talked with staggering breaths, "I'm...tired of your...attitude. I'm sick...of your...stuck-up, bratty, uncaring behavior." He shivered, with an arched posture, glaring into Bowser's eyes. I literally saw fire engulf his eyes and charred smoke coming out of his mouth. He screamed, charging with speed I've never seen coming from such a young Yoshi, or anything else for that matter, towards Bowser. He faked the koopa out by jumping over his head and grabbing a super happy fruit from the tree and began to shine, all the while everyone was staring in disbelief. His burn on his cheek healed up, except for a mark that resembled a flame. Before the prince realized what was happening, Donshi had run around behind him, grabbed him by the roof of his mouth, and flung him with all the force he could muster, into the wall. The effects of the fruit wore off and the prince slumped to the ground, crying like the baby that he was. Several of his cronies picked him up and flew him out of the tower window. Donshi sighed and sat on the ground.
"That was...the most amazing thing I've ever seen," Chishi said with her mouth agape. We all had stood there with our mouths open and our eyes wide, save Garden and Shadow. They didn't seem all that impressed. Shadow stepped forward.
"I think it would be best if we hurry up and get the tree home." We shook off the daze and nodded in agreement.
Trenshi, Boshi, and I picked it out of the ground until I thought of something, "Uh, how are we gonna get home?" Everyone looked at one another, laughing nervously.
We got home by the White Shy and some of his friends. We set the tree back in it's spot and celebrated our victory by eating nonstop and shooting eggs into the air which made beautiful fireworks. Garden and I sat on a hill away from the others watching the fireworks, and throwing some of our own. "Ya know..." I paused, looking down at the others dancing. "I have this feeling that that adventure won't be the last."
She nodded, "I hope note, there must be many more challenges awaiting us." We were silent for a while until she threw an egg up into the sky. I smiled, hearing the loud boom and the colorful brightness of it as it exploded.
"Your fireworks...they're so full of energy." She smiled softly and giggled, "That's sweet of you."
I brought my knees to my chest and rest my arms upon them, "They're just so bright and beautiful. I guess it's because..." I paused, looking at her, blushing a bit, "It reminds me of you." She turned her head blushing, smiling, "Toshi...there's something I should probably tell yo-"
Shadow came walking up to us, with fruit juice all over him, "Hey, Toshi. You and Garden should come down here with the rest of us."
She smiled, "I'm sorry brother...but I think I'm going to turn in."
I nodded and smiled as well, "I'll be there, just give me a few." Shadow smiled in return and walked back down to the others. It was the first time I saw him smile the whole adventure, but I could have sworn I saw a tear. It must've been my imagination. I guess he smiled because peace was restored to the Island. I watched as he went back down, feeling at peace until Garden spoke again.
"Toshi...I'm really glad I met you." I turned my head back to meet her eyes. But I didn't see a happy face, like it should have been, she was crying.
"Garden, what's wrong?" She wiped her eyes, sniffling.
"I'm not crying...it must be the pollen in the air." I could tell she was lying though. "I think I'm going to go to sleep now...good night." She got up and ran down the hill, around the others so they wouldn't notice, and into her hut. I stood up, a bit shocked.
"I hope everything's alright with her..."
After the party, everyone had gone to their huts, except for me and Shadow. "Shadow...I thought-" I paused and looked at the ground, then back to Shadow. "I thought I saw a tear roll down your cheek earlier."
He perked up, "Oh?"
I nodded. "Then Garden started crying...I hope I didn't say anything to offend her..."
He shook his head smiling, "It's nothing like that. My sister always talked about you, she told me how you rescued her, and how she got the chance to use her power. I owe you for that."
I was shocked, "She told me that-"
He nodded, "It's alright. I was happy for her. The reason why she didn't want anyone to know though, is that people feared her powers, as well as mine where we came from."
I looked at him, confused, "Where you...came from?"
He smiled, "I'll tell you later...I'm sorry, I never mentioned why we're sad..." He sighed deeply, "You'll find out tomorrow." He got up from the picnic table and headed for his hut as well. I sat there pondering and eventually fell asleep.
That night I had a dream, a horrific one that still creeps me out to this day. I was wandering through a large mansion hallway. The marble walls were stained in blood and bones of different creatures were sprawled here and there as well as rotting corpses chained to the walls. I saw a figure before me, but I couldn't make out anything from it...it looked to be of my height and seemed to be a yoshi but, that's all I could make out. It turned and disappeared in the darkness of the hallway. I chased after it but ended up running into a wall. I felt myself drop, dropping into darkness. The figure appeared again and started talking to me. I couldn't make it out though but before I realized what was happening, it charged at me and slashed at my face, I felt agonizing pain in my left eye and cheek. That was the end, I woke up sweaty and gasping for breath. "Wha...what kind of dream was that?"
I heard something behind me and whisked around ready to slam my fist into whatever it was but stopped as I saw Garden. "Garden...what are you-" She thrust her arms around me, leaving me speechless and a bit shocked. I couldn't do anything but stand there with my heart racing. It felt like it was going to beat its way out of my chest any moment.
She let go and huddled against my chest, crying, "Toshi...I'm sorry. I'm leaving with my brother...he let me come say good-bye to you." Although shocked and confused, I hugged her tightly.
"Wh-why are you leaving us?" She let go and looked at me with her red sparkling eyes, tears streaming down her cheeks , "We just need to leave as quickly as possible or else you and your family will be in grave danger. We are being hunted...by an evil koopa wizard. I don't know what his name is, but please, tell the others my thanks and that we will miss them. Shadow wanted you to give this to your sister."
She handed me a box that was rather heavy. "I need to leave now, I hope I'll see you again in a few years, Toshi..."
She hugged me once more and after kissing me on the cheek, she ran to her brother who was watching us. I could see that he was crying as well. She stopped as he said something to her, she nodded, and he turned to run into the forest. She turned around and ran back to me, "Here...take this. It's similar to what my brother is giving to Chi...I don't have time to explain what it can do though, but whenever trouble arises, just take it out and it will do the rest."
She placed a small pouch in my hand with what felt to be a sphere of the same weight as what was in Shadow's box. She hesitated, then turned to run after her brother. I stood there motionless. I felt a tear roll down my cheek and I let myself I fall to my knees, holding the two gifts and wept.
That was the end of my first adventure. But the story does not end there. If you would be so kind as to read the rest of this journal, it will show you that we did in fact, go on many mroe adventures afterwards. For after they had gone, the wizard that they had spoken of showed up in the village the next morning.
